Robert Lakatoš

Graduated from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad (class of Professor D. Mihailović). He grew up in a musical family, where his first mentor was his father, Imre Lakatos. At the age of 14, he became the youngest student ever admitted to the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad. After completing his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Novi Sad, he continued his studies at the Zurich University of the Arts, where he honed his craft under the guidance of such masters as A. Rosand, J. Rachlin, R. Simović, and R. Kuhlmann.

Lakatos gained international recognition after winning First Prize at the prestigious International Pablo de Sarasate Violin Competition in Pamplona, Spain, in 2015.

As a soloist, Lakatos has performed at many renowned concert venues around the world. He has collaborated with symphony orchestras in Belgrade, Navarre, Malaga, Krakow, Gdansk, Zurich, London, Istanbul, Ljubljana, and Zagreb, as well as with many outstanding contemporary conductors.

Currently, Robert Lakatos is a Violin Professor at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad and also teaches at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. Since 2018, he has been the Artistic Director of a Chamber orchestra composed of his students.

He performs on an Antonio Stradivari violin from 1709, from the private collection of the renowned bow maker Vladimir Radosavljevic, whose bows he also uses for work.
