Mikhail Lukonin graduated Nizhny Novgorog State Conservatory as a singer. While still a student of the Conservatory Mikhail Lukonin was invited as a soloist to the Nizhny Novgorod State Opera Theatre.

Since 1992 Lukonin has been a soloist of the Saint-Petersburg Opera. Where he has played and sung several noticeable roles in comical operas of Donizetti and performed a number of parts in contemporary composer`s operas. Since 2000 he has been a soloist of the St. Petersburg Musical Comedy Theatre.

As a soloist and as a member of ensemble Neva, the singer often performs in solo concert in cities of Russia and in other European countries (Poland, Finland, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Switzerland, Italy). He has recorded several compact discs and large programs for radio.
