Biography
Cellist Simon Kovarsky is a native of Leningrad.
He holds a master`s degree with honours from the Rimsky–Korsakov Conservatory of St Petersburg and has received training in Denmark, Germany, Finland and the Netherlands with professors Morten Zeuthen, Pascal Devoyon, Wolfgang Boettcher, Dmitri Ferschtman, Marko Ylönen, Philippe Graffin, Colin Carr and Hans–Jakob Eschenburg.
Since 1995 he has been with the St Petersburg Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, and has been associate principal cello since 2008.
Mr. Kovarsky is a permanent member of the Stravinsky string quartet and a member of the famous Russian chamber music ensemble Musica da Camera. He is also a guest soloist of the chamber orchestra Neue Philharmonie Köln.
In 2005 he won the First prize at tne VIIIth international Pietro Argento competition in Italy.
