Biography

Captain, 3rd rank Valentin Lyashchenko graduated from the Moscow Military School of Music (clarinet class) and the Moscow Military Conservatoire. While a student at the conservatoire he received a grant from Vladimir Potanin and trained with the Admiralty Orchestra of the Leningrad Naval Base under Alexei Karabanov. In 2007 he was made a lieutenant and appointed Military Conductor of the St Petersburg Supreme Military School of Radio Electronics of the Air Force and Air Raid Defence. Since 2008 he has been Senior Conductor of the Leningrad Naval Base and Artistic Director and Conductor of the Admiralty Orchestra – the oldest naval wind band in Russia.
He has received the Gubernatorial Youth Prize for Culture and the Silver Medal of the Supreme Apostle St Peter (1st class).
