Biography

Seong-Jin CHO won First Prize in the Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw in October 2015, and also received Polonaise award.
He recently signed a recording contract with the Deutsche Grammophon following the record-breaking success of his debut album on the yellow label of the Chopin Competition.
Born in 1994 in Seoul, South Korea.
Began to study piano at 6 years old and gave his first public recital five years later, when he was eleven years old.
In September, 2008 (14 years old), Seong-Jin won the 1st prize at the 6th Moscow International Frederick Chopin Competition.
In November, 2009 (15 years old) he won the 1st prize at the 7th Hamamatsu International Piano Competition in Japan (youngest winner in its history), and he also received the special prize for his interpretation of a work by Japanese composer.
In July, 2011 (17 years old), he won the 3rd prize at the 14th Tchaikovsky competition in Moscow. Seong-Jin also won the 3rd prize at the 14th Artur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in Tel Aviv in May, 2014.
Seong-Jin has performed with number of noted orchestras including Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Denish National Symphony Orchestra, Mariinsky Orchestra, Russian National Orchestra, Radio France Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra, under renowned conductors such as Myung-Whun Chung, Lorin Maazel, Marek Janowski, Mikhail Pletnev, Valery Gergiev, and Vladimir Ashkenazy.
Since 2012, Seong-Jin has been living in Paris. Studied under Prof. S.R. Park, S.J. Shin in Seoul, and Michel Béroff at Paris Conservatoire.
