Julia Achkinazy

Biography

Julia Achkinazy started playing piano from early age. Her career as a concert pianist really started after she won the first prize in the “Leningrad Tchaikovsky competition for young talents” . She studied with the great teacher Marina Wolf at the Lyceum of the St. Petersburg conservatory. Her teachers were also Alexander Sandler and Valery Vishnevsky. Her post-graduate study was accomplished with Stanislav Igolinsky. She had private lessons from the legendary Lazar Berman. Julia received her second post-graduate master degree at the Amsterdam Sweelinck Conservatory with Naum Grubert.

She received permission for permanent stay in the Netherlands from the Dutch government as “an exceptional honourable concert pianist, and a valuable musician for the musical culture”.

In 2015, together with pianist and conductor Bernhard Touwen, Julia started the “International Piano Art Academy” (IPAA) in 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands, where she is developing gifted musicians.

Julia performs in Russia, the USA, England, Germany and the Netherlands.

The recording made of her successful recital at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw is available on CD.

Recently, Julia released her latest CD with her own compositions, inspired by paintings of the famous Dutch painter Gertrud Derksen.
