Biography

Born in Budapest, Hungary, BENEDEK CSALOG studied flute at the Franz Liszt Conservatory, Budapest, then baroque flute at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague with Barthold Kuijken. He performs throughout Europe, in the United States, Brazil, Japan and the Middle East, and he is regularly invited to play as soloist at the important early music festivals, such as Musicora Paris, Holland Festival, Festival van Vlaanderen, Innsbruck Festival, St. Petersburg Festival and others.
He won first prize at the Baroque Flute Artist Competition in Orlando (USA) as well as first prize at the Musica Antiqua competition in Bruges (Belgium). Benedek Csalog has been teaching baroque flute at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig (Leipzig Music Academy) and at the Bydgoszcz Academy of Music (PL), and regularly gives master-classes in Europe, Russia, South-America and Japan. He has been a guest professor at the Franz Doppler Institute in Budapest and regularly invited to teach at the Tschaikowsky Conservatorium, Moscow and he was artistic director of the Summer School for Early Music in Tokaj, Hungary.
He is recently living in his home town Budapest and gives regular master classes there.
Mr. Csalog recorded 12 CD recordings for German, Belgian and Hungarian labels.
