Tibor Bogányi
Conductor
At the age of 28 he was appointed as chief conductor of the Turku Philharmonic orchestra in Finland. He held this position between the years 2002 - 2006. In 2008 he was nominated Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of Lappeenranta City orchestra in Finland. From 2011 september he starts a new position as he is nominated Chief conductor of the Pannon Filharmonic orchestra in Pécs, Hungary.
Tibor Bogányi is a versatile artist and conducts both symphonic and operatic repertoire on a high level with numerous leading orchestras and companies in Finland and Hungary.
He has made countless television and radio broadcasts and has recorded works by Grieg, Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky.
He has wide repertoire from symphonic music to largescale choral works, as well as to opera and ballet. He has conducted performances of Stravinsky's ballet Le Sacre du Printemps, Bizet's Carmen and Puccini's Tosca. In autumn 2006 he conducted Mozart's Cosi fan tutte at the Finnish National Opera. Two latest appearances were Verdi´s La Traviata in 2009 and Mozart´s Don Giovanni in 2010.
Tibor Boganyi has conducted all the major Finnish orchestras, including the Helsinki Philharmonic, the Finnish Radio, Lahti and Tampere Philharmonic orchestras just to name a few. He also conducts several youth orchestras as the Sibelius-Academy Symphony Orchestra and was the Artistic Director of VIVO National Youth Symphony Orchestra between 1999-2002.
Tibor Boganyi has made successful debuts abroad with the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, Orchester National du Capitole de Toulouse, Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra, Odense Symphony, the Mexico State Symphony Orchestra, Macao Symphonic Orhestra, Shanghai Opera, Máv Symphony Orchestra Budabest, Debrecen Philharmonic Orchestra, Oradea Philharmonic Orchestra, Tirgu Mures Philharmonic Orchestra and Savaria Symphony Orchestra, etc.
After completing his diploma in cello playing, he went on to study with professor Jorma Panula and professor Leif Segerstam at the famous conducting class of Sibelius Academy. His diploma examination in conducting at the Sibelius Academy was the world premiere of the ballet Hobbit by Aulis Sallinen at the Finnish National Opera. Tibor Boganyi still appears on stage as a cellist.
