Biography
Elena Vitman graduated from the St.Petersburg Conservatory and completed
an assistantship (class of I.Bogacheva). She is a laureate of international competitions in Wroclaw (1992) and St.Petersburg (1994).
Since1996 she has been a soloist of the Mariinsky Th eatre. Her repertoire consists of over 60 roles of the world opera repertoire, from Tchaikovsky, Gounod and Wagner to Strauss, Britten, Prokofiev and Shostakovich. She has performed on the leading stages of the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Opera Bastille, Covent Garden, Barbican Hall and Teatro Real.
Elena Vitman works with leading conductors and directors such as V.Gergiev, G.Kent, A.Konchalovsky, and T.Tchkheidze. She sang in the ensemble with P.Domingo, A.Netrebko, D.Hvorostovsky, S.Leiferkus, V.Chernov, G.Gorchakova, V.Galuzin and M.Gulegina.
She took part in the recording of Shostakovich’s opera «The Nose», which was nominated for the «Grammy» award.
She teaches at the St.Petersburg Conservatory.
