The St Petersburg State Philharmonia n.a. D.D.Shostakovich announced the International Audition in the St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra
Artistic Director – Yuri Temirkanov
Vacancies:
1st Violins – the associate concertmaster
2nd Violins – 6th position
Cellos – 8th position
Trombones – coordinator of 2nd and 3rd trombones, bass-trombone
Tuba
Percussions – principal (Timpani) and one position in section
The audition shall be held in St Petersburg, the Grand Philharmonic Hall, on February, 29, March, 1 and 2, 2016.
Audition program includes:
For Strings and Percussions – one compulsory work, one work at the choice of the applicant and solo excerpts from the orchestra repertoire.
For Brass – two compulsory works and solo excerpts from the orchestra repertoire

Violin:
Mozart. Concertos No 3, No 4 or No 5 (1st movement with cadenza)
Cello:
Haydn. Concerto in D Major (1st movement with Gendron cadenza)
Trombone:
Bozza. “Hommage a Bach”
Martin. “Ballade”
Bass-trombone:
Capuzzi. “Andante”
Hidas. “Rhapsody for bass trombone”
Tuba:
Rachmaninov. Prelude in the E flat Majore
Bujanovsky. Improvisation for Tuba solo
Percussions:
Carter. “Canaries” from “Eight Pieces for Four Timpani”
Cirone. Sonata No 1 for Timpani and Piano
One work for xylophone, vibraphone or percussions at the choice of the applicant
Documents to be submitted:
Application form (download), CV, employment reference letter, photo (6x6), digital recording of solo performance not less than 5 minutes
