About group
Founded in 1968 by the renowned organist, composer, and conductor Oleg Yanchenko as the Minsk Chamber Orchestra. In 1975, at the international chamber orchestra festival in Vilnius, it was recognized as one of the best ensembles in the Soviet Union. As a result, the orchestra toured Moscow and Leningrad, the capitals of Soviet republics, as well as Germany, Austria, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, England, France, Italy, Spain, and many other countries. The orchestra has performed with S. Richter, E. Virsaladze, M. Rostropovich, N. Gutman, V. Tretyakov, P. Badura-Shkoda, and E. Cerni-Stefańska. It has been led by Y. Tzirjuk, A. Polyanichko, V. Sobolev, and P. Vandilovsky. Since 2009, the orchestra has been headed by Honored Artist of Russia Evgeny Bushkov.
The orchestra's repertoire is rich and diverse — from works by old masters to contemporary music of the 21st century. Today, the ensemble remains a creative laboratory for many Belarusian composers.
