Guarneri trio Prague

About group

The Guarneri Trio Prague was established by Cenek Pavlik, Marek Jerie, and Ivan Klansky, who since 1986 play in the most important concert halls across the world. With its artistically spectacular performances, the Trio drew the attention of the international press since early on in its carreer. It has achieved the reputation as a leading ensemble of chamber music for its unique art of playing, quality of tone and technical skills. In the concert season 2021/22 the Trio will celebrate its 35th anniversary and will showcast its musical and technical qualities honed by many years of playing together.

The ensemble performs regularly at various international music festivals or Prague Spring Schleswig-Holstein Festival, or la Folle Journée in Nantes, Bilbao and Tokyo. The Trio is also regularly invited to perform at prestigious concert venues in cities such as London, Tokyo, Paris, Prague, Madrid, Geneva and Hamburg. Its tours led it throughout Europe, Canada, Australia and North and South America.

The Guarneri Trio Prague has recorded the complete piano trios of Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Shostakovich, Schubert and Mozart for the Paris-based label Praga Digitals and the piano trios of Dvorak for the Czech label Supraphon. The complete piano trios of Brahms are to be recorded in the near future. For their recordings the Trio was rewarded with many important prices.

The Guarneri Trio Prague gives frequently master classes in different places all over the world.

The ensemble bears the family name of the makers of both string instruments used by the Trio. Cenek Pavlik plays the famous “Zimbalist“ violin by Guarneri del Gesù from the precious collection of Luigi Tarisio, while Marek Jerie plays a cello made by Andrea Guarneri in 1684.

All three members of the Trio were born in Prague.
