New Chamber St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra gave its first concert in the Grand Philharmonic Hall on March 11, 2020. Conductor Yaroslav Zaboyarkin, international competitions’ laureate, is the orchestra’s founder and leader. The orchestra, created with Yuri Temirkanov’s support, consists of young St. Petersburg musicians, the renowned Philharmonic Orchestra artists, as well as the St. Petersburg Conservatory students and postgraduates.
The orchestra’s main goals are to popularize classical music among young people, support young soloists, perform little-known and modern works, create audacious interpretations, preserve continuity of the country’s oldest symphony orchestra traditions. The orchestra offers bright and unexpected programs to the public, actively cooperates with famous artists, including E. Stikhina, N. Baldeyrou, N. Boriso-Glebsky, Zhang Xinyue, P. Osetinskaya, P. Laul, A. Kashpurin, M. Kultyshev, S. Kryuchkova, S. Barkovsky, L. Pitskhelauri, A. Vakha. In addition, the leading soloists of the Distinguished Orchestra of Russia – L. Klychkov, A. Makarova, I. Kozlov, as well as soloists of the St. Petersburg Music House regularly participate in the concerts.
The orchestra has performed at prestigious international festivals: The Arts Square, Music Collection, the World Youth Orchestras Festival in Moscow, and the Sirius Spring Festival. Presented a number of Russian and world premieres, featured in multi-genre projects, including concert dramas, and became a participant in international cultural exchange.
The St. Petersburg-Tehran Cultural Bridge project performance in 2025 in Iran was of particular importance, where the orchestra made its debut on Tehran's main academic stage – Vahdat Hall.
