Yuri Bashmet, the Moscow Soloists and the Russian Museum will present the audiovisual project «Parallel worlds of Russian Art» at the «Arts Square» Festival

Yuri Bashmet and the Moscow Soloists Chamber Orchestra together with the Russian Museum will present the audiovisual project "Parallel worlds of Russian Art" in St. Petersburg on December 23 within the framework of the XX International winter «Arts Square» Festival. Actress Svetlana Kryuchkova and violinist, XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition winner, Sergey Dogadin are among the participants. Yuri Bashmet and the Moscow Soloists Chamber Orchestra will also perform a program of the classical and romantic eras’ works at the Festival on December 22.

"I have always been interested in doing unusual, unexpected projects that combine different genres. The idea to present a program combining music, painting and poetry at the «Arts Square» Festival, was not born by chance: this synthesis of the arts is the essential concept of the Festival itself, – says Yuri Bashmet, – I am very glad that the St. Petersburg Philharmonia has supported us in this idea’s realization, that the Russian Museum - which is a participant of the Festival since its creation – is actively involved in the project preparation, and we will do a show of paintings from the Russian Museum collection during the concert. It was also very important for me that very rarely performed works will sound along with the familiar music this evening. I am sure that the upcoming concert will be a very memorable event for all of us, musicians and audience."

Along with XXth century poems this evening will feature music by Shostakovich, Sviridov, Weinberg, Ledenev and other composers, images of paintings from the Russian Museum collection, created by Deineka, Petrov-Vodkin, Konchalovsky, Samokhvalov and other artists. Dramaturgically verified combination of painting, poetry and music will create a voluminous, complex and fascinating picture of the Russian art development.
