Daniele RUSTIONI, conductor


Daniele Rustioni obtained his diploma degrees with highest marks in piano, organ, composition and orchestral conducting at the Conservatory “G.Verdi” in Milan. He attended postgraduate conducting courses at the Accademia Superiore Musicale in Pescara with Gilberto Serembe, the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena with Gianluigi Gelmetti, and the Royal Academy of Music in London with Colin Metters, Mark Shanahan, George Hurst and Sir Colin Davis. Furthermore he attended as a fellow student important orchestral conducting masterclasses with Leif Segerstam and Gianandrea Noseda. His musical education is characterised also by operatic repertoire studies at the Teatro alla Scala Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, postgraduate coach/accompanist course. In 2002 he was invited as the best young organist in Milan by the Polifonica Ambrosiana Choir to play several concerts as a soloist and choir conductor. In the following years he worked as an accompanist and assistant for the Orchestra “A.Salieri” in Mantua, the Auditorium “G.Verdi” Choir in Milan, and the Teatro alla Scala Academy in Milan (playing for Lejla Gencer, Renata Scotto, Renato Bruson, Luigi Alva and Edoardo Muller voice classes and masterclasses). In 2004 he gained a merit scholarship from Teatro alla Scala Academy and he had the opportunity to work in two official operatic seasons of the prestigious theatre in Milan as a repetiteur and assistant conductor in important productions like: Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Ascanio in Alba, Nozze di Figaro, Ariadne auf Naxos, Boheme, Rigoletto, Otello. He was also Gianluigi Gelmetti’s assistant at Rome Opera House (Tristan und Isolde, Cosi’ fan tutte, Traviata), and Gianandrea Noseda’s assistant at his Festival Settimane Musicali in Stresa (Clemenza di Tito). In concert he conducted the Orchestra Regionale Toscana at Teatro Verdi in Florence, the Orchestra of Teatro Regio in Turin, the “Festival Settimane Musicali 2006” Academy Orchestra at the Congress Palace in Stresa, the Sofia National Festival Orchestra at Teatro dei Rozzi in Siena, the BIT20 Ensamble at Villa Ponti in Arona (concert transmitted several times on RAI Radio 3 in Italy), the Orchestra Sinfonica Pescarese at Accademia Musicale Pescarese Concert Hall in Pescara, the UECO Symphony Orchestra in Milan at Conservatorio “G.Verdi” Concert Hall, Sinfonieorchester Wuppertal at the Staadthalle Wuppertal in Germany, the St.Petersburg State Academy Symphony Orchestra, the Bard Institute Symphony Orchestra at the Bard College Great Hall in New York, the Opera Nordfjord Symphony Orchestra in Norway. He has important future engagements at Teatro Regio in Turin and the Ashover Music Festival in England. Daniele joins the National Opera Studio in September 2007. In January 2008 Daniele Rustioni has made his debut in the Mikhailovsky Theatre, St.Petersburg.
