Marco Lo MUSCIO, organ (Italy)
Marco Lo MUSCIO was born in Rome on October
23 1971. He graduated in piano with full honours (“Cum Laude”)
at "L. Refice" academy of music guided by Maestro Maiorani.
He then took 3 years' advanced study with the great pianist Sergio
Fiorentino (1927-1998), attaining the Diploma of Advanced Studies
at the academy "B. Cristofori". At present he is improving
his organ playing technique under the guidance of Maestro J. E.
Goettsche (head organist at St. Peter's, Rome) and is graduating
in Pedagogy “Cum Laude” at the University of Rome. He loves performing
Keith Jarrett's piano pieces he transcribed himself and specializes
in the French, English and American repertoire of the 1900s, in
Bach's repertoire and in the adaptations and transcriptions of
ancient and modern music.
He has held more than 400 concerts: for the I.U.C. (University
Concert Institution) at the Aula Magna of the University of Rome
“La Sapienza”; with the "Refice" orchestra (Beethoven's
"Fantasia op.80"), “Nova Amadeus” (Handel’s concerts)
and "Aramus" (Faure's "Requiem"); in the cathedral
and in the Palazzo Piccolomini of Pienza (regular guest since
1986); in the basilicas of S. Maria degli Angeli, "Ara Coeli",
S. Luigi dei Francesi; in the Anglican churches of "All Saints"
and "St. Paul's within the walls"; in the medieval abbey
of S. Antimo (Siena); in S. Mark (Florence); at the Monteallegro
Sanctuary (Rapallo)... He has also performed for the following
associations: Euterpe (auditorium "Seraphicum"), Tempietto
(Teatro Marcello), Aris (Palazzo Barberini), CEAS (NASA congress),
FAO, UNICEF, Setem (Narazeno college), musica Rediviva, Keiros,
Arte e Spettacolo International, ”Artists’Mass” in Rome, Palace
Doria Pamphilj, etc.
Recently he also performed at the prestigious “Festival Pontino”
and at the “Festival of Nations”. He also played for the re-opening
S. Paul's Basilica for the Jubilee of the year 2000 (broadcast
television) and for Gattinoni at the fashion show "Donna
sotto le Stelle". Other performances by the artist include
playing for the opening of the spiritual services in St. Peter's
in the presence of Pope Giovanni Paolo II, and playing for SAT
2000 television and RAI TV. He also took part in several theatre
plays such as "Parsifal", "Dante-Inferno",
"Natale Antico" (Rai TV), "Via Crucis" by
H. Laberer.
He has also performed in Iceland (Selfoss, Skalholt, and Reykjavik),
in Budapest ("Ligeti" contest), in Wales (Swansea, Tenby,
Port Talbot), in France (Provence and Montecarlo), Vatican (S.Peter
and hall Clementina), Blue Coast (Grimaud, S.Tropez, S.Raphael)
and in Oxford, at “Exeter College”.
He has worked with and for international artists such as: Goffredo
Petrassi, Mario Luzi, Ann Rees, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Giulio Sforza,
Marcello Creti, Alessio Benvenuti, Andrea Trovato, Antonio Latanza
and Tim Rishton.
Has given premiere performances national and international of
works by composers such as: Spicer, Bourgeois, Howells, Sakamoto,
Jarrett, Tournemire, Alain, Rautavaara, Part…
Marco Lo Muscio has published with success five CDs of piano and
organ music for "Studio Amadeus" records: "Piano
visions", "Organ visions I and II", "American
piano music", "Spohr, Schumann and Schubert: Chamber
music".
Forthcoming concerts 2004/05 include: Iceland,
Belgium, Norway (Bergen), Kiev, "Tallinn XVIII international
organ festival"(Tallinn, Parnu, Koeru), Russia, Egypt, etc.
