Andrei SLAVNY, baritone
Opera singer (born 1963) graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory specializing in two areas: choral conducting (1987) and vocal singing (1990, assistant's probation period 1993). Resides, he studied piano playing at the Conservatory for three years. He was also taught German song by Shirai and Hoell in Zaltsburg. Andrei Slavny is engaged in intensive concert activities performing in Russia, Latvia, Norway, Denmark, Germany, USA, Finland. His repertoire widely covers works by modern authors, many of them have been written specially for him, as well as Russian and Western classics. In 1992-95 Andrei Slavny held a series of performances entitled "The anthology of Russian romance" consisting of 25 solo concerts programs of which included more than 450 works by fifty-plus composers. In connection with the 150th anniversary of Rimski-Korsakov's birthday (1994) Slavny recorded 40 of his romances and 4 concert duets. He also recorded more than 20 vocal compositions by Prokofiev as well as works by other composers for the "Russian disc" firm (USA, 1995). Slavny combines his performing activities with teaching at St.Petersburg Conservatory where he gives classes in chamber singing.
