Sergei SEMISHKUR, tenor

 

 

Sergei Semishkur was born in Kirov. Graduated from the Nizhny-Novgorod State Glinka Conservatoire in 2003 (faculties of choral conducting and academic vocals). 

 

Soloist with the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers from the same year. Mariinsky Theatre soloist since 2007. 

 

Repertoire at the Mariinsky Theatre includes: Vladimir Igorevich (Prince Igor), Kuzka (Khovanshchins), Lykov (The Tsar's Bride), Guidon (The Tale of Tsar Saltan), Lensky (Eugene Onegin), Chekalinsky (The Queen of Spades), Vakula a blacksmith (Christmas Eve), Young Gypsy (Aleko in concert), First Croupier (The Gambler), Truffaldino (Love for Three Oranges), Genaro (Maddalena in concert), Nose (The Nose), Edgardo, Arturo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Duke (Rigoletto), Cassio (Otello), Rodolfo (La bohema), Benvenuto Cellini (Benvenuto Cellini), Enee (Les Troyens), Remendado (Carmen), Steersman (Der Fliegende Hollaender), Froh (Das Rheingold), Brighella (Ariadne auf Naxos), Steva (Jenufa), Edrisi (Krol Roger). 

 

Repertoire also includes the roles of Lensky (Eugene Onegin), King

Charles VII (The Maid of Orleans), Vaudemont (Iolanta), Alfredo (La

traviata), Fenton (Falstaff), Ubalde (Armida e Rinaldo), Ferrando (Cosi fan tutte) and the tenor roles in Mozart's Requiem, Haydn's Mass in G Major and The Seasons, Verdi's Requiem, Weber's Requiem, Schubert's Mass in G Major, Rossini's Stabat Mater and Stravinsky's Les noces. 

 

Sergei Semishkur has taken part in Mariinsky Theatre tours, as well as appearing independently as a chamber singer in Spain, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland, Finland, Luxemburg, the UK, Austria, the USA and Israel. 

 

In 2006 Sergei Semishkur took part in a production of the opera La

boheme, performing as Rodolfo at the Warsaw Opera, and in 2007 he appeared in a production of Benvenuto Cellini at the Salzburg

Festspiele. 

 

Sergei Semishkur is prize-winner at the International Rimsky-Korsakov Competition (St Petersburg, 2006), prize-winner at the International Lisitsian Competition (Vladikavkaz, 2003), diploma and special prize recipient at the Elena Obraztsova International Competition (Moscow, 2005).
