Yulia MAKHALINA, ballet dancer

Born in St Petersburg. Graduated from the Vaganova Ballet Academy (class of Professor Marina Vasilyeva). Joined the Mariinsky Theatre in 1985. Principal since 1989.
Yulia has won the Grand Prix and Gold Medal at the Fourth International Ballet Competition in Paris (1990) and was a recipient of the Italian Prix de Lumiere, also she has won the Benois de la dance prize (1998). Honoured Artist of Russia (1995).
