Mikhail LESTOV, percussion

Mikhail Lestov was born in 1977 in Leningrad. He started his music lessons at the age of seven. In 1993-1997 he studied at the Rimsky-Korsakov College of Music in St.-Petersburg and continued at the St.-Petersburg State Conservatory in 1997-2002 in the class of Asst. Prof. A.A. Mikhailov. In 2001-2002 he worked on probation at the Amsterdam Conservatory (the Netherlands). At present Lestov is a post-graduate student at the St.-Petersburg Conservatory.

Since 2002 he works in the St.-Petersburg Symphony Orchestra.

Mikhail Lestov was a prize-winner of the 1^st Open Percussions Competition in Kazan (1999, 1^st Prize) and of the National Brass and Percussions Competition in St.-Petersburg (2000, 2^nd Prize). In 2005 he won the 1^st Prize at the 1^st International Rimsky-Korsakov Brass and Percussions. Competition in St.-Petersburg.
