Carel Kraayenhof
and his Sexteto Canyengue (The Netherlands)

Mr Maxima, Tangueros un populair solo musician Morricone became Mr Western music, Carel became Mr Royal princess Maxima in the Netherlands when he played a passionate rendition of the sensitive ‘Adios Nonino’ by Astor Piazzolla in De Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam. For the newly wed royal couple and their thousand guests, among whom were Nelson Mandela and Kofi Annan, and also at the same time live for more than 55 million people around the world, the passionate sounds of Carel’s bandoneon coaxed Maxima’s famous tears. Once Mr. Maxima, always? Most popular dutch bands like Andre Hazes, Blof, Trijntje Oosterhuis, Marco Borsato and many others used the Kraayenhof sound in their songs. Tango is his passion, but making music all over the world with musicians the dream.

The unique sound of Carel catched the ear of many conductor, the CD Guardians Of the Clouds with Ennio Morricone and the tour with Kristjan Jarvi in 2008 show that the dream has just begun. A CD recording with the famous Metropole Orkest and solo performances at the Rundfunk Sinfonie Orchestra (Berlin), Orchester Niederoesterreich (Wienen) and a tour through Australia are on the programme for the end of 2007 and 2008.

Since Carel Kraayenhof created Sexteto Canyengue in 1988, they became one of the trendsetting tango representatives in Europe. Thanks to the respect and help from the famous tangueros like Piazzolla and Pugliese, the love for the Argentines and their tango and the passion to make this music, Sexteto Canyengue is respected all over the world. With the six members of Sexteto Canyengue, dancers and special guests from Argentina the unique sounds of an orquesta tipica - the big band tango tradition from the 40-ties - comes alive. The passion for the tango from all the musicians in one musical explosion on stage, that's Sexteto Canyengue.

The CD-sales from Tango Heroes in the Nederlands (2006), Germany (2007) and Argentina (2007) show again that the dream is still alive and Sexteto Canyengue is respected international. The tour Tango Heroes with again 30 concerts in the Netherlands were from September 2007 - December 2007.
