Kristina KAPUSTINSKA, mezzo-soprano

Third prize winner at the Rimsky-Korsakov International Vocal Competition in 2006, second prize and Special Prize winner at the 6th International Stanislaw Moniuszko Vocal Competition of Warsaw in 2007, Kristina Kapustynska was born in Kiev, Ukraine. Trained at the Glier Kyiv Music College, she graduated in 2006 from the Tchaikovsky Music Academy of Ukraine (prof.Diana Petrynenko). As a freelance singer, Kristina performs under Valery Gergiev's guidance at The Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. In 2006-2007 she took part in the Love of Three Oranges (Smeraldina, Nicoletta) and Electra (Second Maid). She also has performed at the Moscow Easter Festival. In summer 2007 and made her debuts at the festival "The Stars of the White Nights" in St. Petersburg as Grusha the Gypsy in a Russian Premiere of Rodion Shchedrin's The Enchanted Wanderer. After the success of the performance, she was invited by Yuri Temirkanov as soloist in Prokofiev's Alexander Nevsky Cantata to open the 2007-2008 season of the St. Petersburg Philharmonia. In September 2007, she has performed Grusha the Gypsy part in Moscow at the opening of the festival dedicated to Rodion Shchedrin's 75th anniversary. She gives own recitals as well as tours with Mariinsky Theatre in Europe.
