Honoured Artist of Russia, Prize-winner at the International Vocalists? Competition in Geneva (3rd prize, 1985), Prize-winner at the All-Russian Chaliapin Vocalists? Competition (2nd prize, 1989).
Born in Alexandrovsk, Perm Region. Graduated from the Leningrad State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire in 1982 (class of Professor Serval). Mariinsky Theatre soloist since 1991.
With the theatre performed on La Scala, Covent Garden and The Metropolitan Opera stages.
