Zhanna DOMBROVSKAYA, soprano

Zhanna Dombrovskaya was born in Pyatigorsk. Graduated from the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire (class of Professor Svetlana Gorenkova) and the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers in 2000. Soloist with the St Petersburg State Musorgsky Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet from 2001–2003. Mariinsky Theatre soloist since 2003.

Repertoire at the Mariinsky Theatre includes: Antonida (A Life for the Tsar), Lyudmila (Ruslan and Lyudmila), Iolanta (Iolanta), Volkhova (Sadko), Oxana (Christmas Eve), the Queen of Shemakha (The Golden Cockerel), Podtochina's daughter (The Nose), Sofia (Semyon Kotko), Adina (L'elisir d'amore), Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Norina (Don Pasquale), Gilda (Rigoletto), Musetta (La bohème), Ascagne (Les Troyens), Micaëla (Carmen), Elettra (Idomeneo), Donna Elvira, Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Fiordiligi, Despina (Così fan' tutte), Freia (Das Rheingold in opera recital).

Her repertoire also includes: Tatiana (Eugene Onegin), Violetta (La traviata), Donna Anna, Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Concepción (L'Heure espagnole) and the soprano parts in Stravinsky's cantata Les Noces, Orff's Carmina Burana, Bach's Johannes-Passion and Händel's Judas Maccabaeus.

Zhanna Dombrovskaya has toured to New York (Metropolitan Opera), Rome, Madrid (Orquesta Filarmonía), Moscow (Bolshoi Theatre) and Baden-Baden as well as to cities throughout Germany, South Korea, Italy, Japan and Switzerland. She has taken part in master classes with Renata Scotto (Accademia di Santa Cecilia, Rome, 2004; Opera Academy of Westchester Conservatory, New York, 2005). She has a busy recital schedule in cities throughout Russia. In the 2009-2010 season she took part in a performance of The Infernal Comedy featuring John Malkovich.
