Sergey ALEKSASHKIN, bass
Honoured Artist of Russia (1989). Laureate of BALTIKE prize (2001).
Graduated from the Saratov Conservatory in 1982. 1983-84: Post-graduate course in Italy at Teatro alla Scala. Joined the Kirov Opera in 1989.

He is a frequent guest singer in the major opera houses such as the Metropolitan Opera House, La Scala, La Fenice, Opera de Bastille, Covent Garden, San Francisco Opera House, among others. He has also participated in the Salzburg Easter Festival with Claudio Abbado and Sir George Solti.
Recordings: audio recordings with Mariinsky Opera Company under the baton of Valery Gergiev, and Philips Classics include: Rene ("Iolanta"), and audio/video with Philips Classics, NHK and Cameras Continentales ("Sadko"), audio/video recording of "Betrothal in the Monastery" with Philips Classics, NHK and Euroarts, audio/video recording of "Mazeppa" with Philips Classics, NHK and Euroarts. In addition he has recorded Songs and Dances of Death and Shostakovitch's 13th Symphony under the baton of Sir George Solti for the Decca label.
